Successful Pint-Sized Hero Blood Drive 1-31-18

Dear Ms. Lee

It was with great pleasure to have been part of the amazing blood drive by the 4th grade class of Hayward Intermediate school.

The passion and enthusiasm from the students was inspiring and contagious.  On behalf of the American Red Cross we thank you for supporting this program and extending learning into leading and acting toward service to the community.

This blood drive was successful on many levels:

The goal was not only reached, it went beyond to 28 units which is going to help save up to 84 lives!  Your 4thgraders are helping up to 84 patients in the next 42 days. (blood has a shelf life of 42 days from collection)

There were 23 NEW donors – NEW donors, who have not donated with the Red Cross before.  Our efforts are two-fold, collecting blood and finding new donors.  Your 4th graders did exactly that!

How many were educated in what blood truly is; medicine and not gross or scary

The leadership developed from the students, the pride seen in their faces and from their presentations shows how truly exceptional this group is.  I am extremely proud of them!

Please share the success of your students and the valuable impact they made with their first ever Pint-size Hero blood drive.  Below was a post from Sue our communications manager giving thanks for their drive.

Thank you for your support, thank you to Meghan and the 4th grade teachers and the students!  I hope to be able to have this be a program each year with the 4th graders.
